Alerts and notifications
Choosing alert channels
Match the urgency of a check to the channel its alerts arrive on.
Different problems deserve different channels. Matching them keeps urgent issues visible and routine ones out of the way.
High-urgency checks
For pages whose downtime is costly, route alerts to a channel someone watches in real time so the response starts quickly.
Lower-urgency checks
For internal or low-traffic targets, a slower channel such as email is often enough and avoids interrupting people unnecessarily.
